Work Permits And Permanent Residence Visas
PNP approval is normally possible in about 12 weeks. After the applicant has obtained PNP approval and been nominated, a letter is issued to the relevant Citizenship and Immigration Canada post confirming the applicant’s nomination. The applicant’s Federal immigration application is then submitted to the post for a review of their health and security issues, and permanent residence visas can be issued within 10-12 months. Upon request, the PNP will issue another letter to applicants which allows them to apply for work permits without need for HRSDC/Service Canada confirmation. In most cases, applicants can acquire a work permit in one day for in-person applications. Alberta PNP applicants must first recieve a positive labour market opinion from Service Canada which adds a minimum of 20 weeks to the application process in most cases. Through this process applicants and their spouses can both acquire work permits and their children can acquire study permits allowing the whole family to come to Canada at this time, if they choose. Otherwise the spouse and children can wait at home until the permanent residence visas are issued in 10-12 months. |
